It may be a bit bold to say that food is the second most powerful force in our world. Kyle Johnson Cherek doesn’t think so. For 12 years, he was the founding host of Wisconsin Foodie on PBS, a run that earned two Emmys and a primetime audience of more than five million across six Midwest states. When he stepped away, the host who followed him admitted in an interview that he sometimes wonders whether he’s telling the story as authentically as Kyle did.

It would be selling him short to call him a culinary historian or a media personality. He is just as fluent in the science of food and memory (his TEDx talk), the business of the dining room (his consulting spans Fortune 500 companies and chef-driven restaurants), and the people behind the plate (his NPR essays and the Classic Eats series). His keynotes for hospitality leaders, trade shows, and food and culture gatherings are smart, funny, and personal enough that a room full of professionals remembers why they fell for this business. Expect real history, great stories, and perhaps tips on a couple of dad moves in the kitchen.
